Aug. 16th is famous fire festival “Gozan no Okuribi”, light up Kyoto’s night sky.

There is a custom to get cinder after festival to put on the entrance of each fire
which works as charm against evil spirits.

This custom is not known. However, next day, early morning many people
climb five mountains as exercise too.

There is another tradition about cinder.
It works for against illness if you drink powdered cinder.
