Togetsu-kyo Bridge locates crossing Katsura River which is one of the famous tourist point in Arashiyama area (North West of Kyoto city).

A emperor about 1000 years ago expressed the sight, “The moon is crossing the bridge in clear night sky” and the name came from there. the actual basement is made with reinforced concrete, but the other parts are made by wood as same as ancient bridge. As the majority of parts are wood so there are problems such as in a case of accident, a car break down the fence and falls to the River or something like that.

The place uses for films and TV programs even in Ukiyoe (famous Japanese woodcut picture style) appears the bridge. If you have chance, you should visit and cross the bridge.
