Have you ever heard a word “Gyotaku”? In any period there are people who love fishing. When they talk about a fish, which they catch is better and larger than actual one.
It says a missed fish is larger in Japanese. Even not missed the fish is larger. So to tell how that to the other person and as memento was developed “Gyotaku”.
The simplest way of Gyotaku is paint the fish with Indian ink and put on a paper like a stump. Well, don’t grab the fish, leave it there and cover the fish with paper. Instead of paper, sometimes people use cloth for Gyotaku. Some of Gyotaku handle as art object. But anyway, to take a photo with measure by digital camera is common way in these days.
