Kushi

kushi

Kushi is comb in Japanese. And there are two types of comb in Japan, one is for dressing up decoration on head and the other one is for daily use. For decoration comb has half moon shape but never say it is a comb.

It should classify as hair pin as Kuchi (comb) has pronunciation as same as tragic death. So it is not a comb. This comb has great finish. Maiko/Geiko and other public people use for something really special this comb. But the majority of Japanese women do not have chance to use or get this comb.

This half moon comb has high value as art craft and good for a gift. A problem is difficult to get. Even in Kyoto people have to look for it. But in other cities is more difficult; maybe one or two half moon comb special shops in a prefecture.
