Origami is the traditional Japanese art of making animals or life objects by folding square pieces of paper.
This art is so common that, most likely, any Japanese person can fold at least one item with Origami. We also have Chiyogami art that is made with the widely used Japanese washi paper. We don’t normally use scissors or glue for Origami.
The process to turn a sheet of paper into shapes is interesting; one of the reasons why it is so attractive is because anyone can easily participate.
Origami also reminds us of senbazuru.
It is said that your wish would come true if you fold a thousand small cranes while holding your wish in mind, create a line of the folded cranes, and use it as a decoration., We usually give it to a friend who is sick in a hospital to wish a fast recovery.
