There is sweet, “Minazuki” in Kyoto.
This is a sweet of white sweet triangle cake and put on bean paste with Azuki bean.
Traditionally, the sweet is for 30th of June.
On 30th June it will be held a ceremony “Natsugoshi no Harae” which is to remove disgrace and evil before summer coming.
In ancient Japan, it was common to eat ice in June. The ice was kept during winter, and used to offer to imperial court and to Shogunate, too. Maybe the sweet was a imitated ice as ice was not cheap for normal citizens.
Minazuki is a sweet which combined tradition and paticie’s imaginative idea. The other name of “June” is “Minazuki” in Japan.
